There has been some talk in the water about surf contests help at Stables/Pipe and I thought I'd take it to the forums for your opinions on the subject.
First it seems that we have more than our fair share of contests there.
Second it also seems there are more back-to-back contests and ones that last the full weekend.
Third the state of the beach and the parking lot is often left worse than before the contest.
For the regulars and locals that call this spot home, not too mention those who by a seasonal parking pass or pay each and everyday to use this location, there seems to be a valid argument for spacing contests... [Read More]

Surfboard Ban on British Airways |

Help the folks up in the North of Scotland ...... British Airway just banned surfboards from their flights. The local airport (Wick, Caithness) for the Highland Open is monopolized by British Airways who, in their inifinite wisdom, have decided to ban surfboard transport on all their flights.
The Highland Open surf contest was just starting to get established and now the visiting pro' surfers can't get their equipment there without a whole lot of hassle. This could threaten the contest which help bring in tourism and money to the local area.

As many of you have noticed there have not been new pics in a while, this is due in part to three things. First being the utter lack of surf, second being I have been working more and lastly my 400mm lens broke.
If you'd like to donate to the "Bill's turning 40 on the 19th get him a new lens fund, click here!

Highland Open - Scotland |

Check out the 6 star WQS Highland Open starting April 24th - live broadcast if you are up early enough in the day. Couple of local VC boys competing (Dane Reynolds and Nathaniel Curran) in the chilly conditions.
